"Exadata is Oracle's engineered system — purpose-built hardware where the database servers and storage are designed together. Normal databases treat storage as a dumb disk. Exadata makes storage smart — each storage cell has its own CPU, so when you run a query, the WHERE clause gets pushed down to the storage layer. Only rows that match come back up. Less data moves, queries run faster. That's called Smart Scan. Everything is wired together over a 40 Gb/s InfiniBand fabric — no bottleneck. It's the go-to platform for large data warehouses, mixed OLTP, and Oracle EBS environments."
